Bio Coal Plant
Introduction
Bio coal (also called green coal or biomass briquettes) is a renewable fuel made from biomass.
Used as a substitute for coal in boilers, furnaces, power plants, and industrial heating.

Properties of Bio Coal
Calorific value: 3,500 – 5,000 kcal/kg (higher for torrefied bio coal)
Moisture content: <10%
Low ash content (2–10%, compared to 30–40% in coal)
Environment-friendly (near carbon neutral, as COâ‚‚ released = COâ‚‚ absorbed during plant growth)
Applications
Power plants (co-firing with coal or 100% replacement)
Industrial boilers & furnaces (textiles, paper mills, cement plants, food industries)
Domestic cooking (in pellet form)
Brick kilns & lime kilns
