Rapier Loom
Overview
Rapier looms are versatile weaving machines that use a rapier (a rod or tape-like carrier) to insert the weft yarn across the warp shed. They are suitable for weaving a wide range of yarn types including cotton, wool, silk, and synthetic fibers, making them highly flexible in textile production.
Working Principle
A rapier carries the weft yarn from one side of the loom to the other through the warp shed.
In double rapier systems, one rapier hands over the yarn to the other at the center.
Warp yarns are lifted to form a shed for weft insertion.
Continuous insertion and beat-up process forms the woven fabric.
